John Mayo that may assist in untangling the Sword family mystery. In 1850, John Mayo, age 26, was living in HH #1974 in the Washington Co., VA census along with wife, Elizabeth "Boardwine", also age 26, and several children. Living next door was Elizabeth's father Joshua Boardwine and his second wife Margaret Scott, whom he had married in Washington Co. in 1843. Joshua Boardwine had previously lived in Russell Co., VA and was listed there in 1830. It is reported that Joshua Boardwine's first wife was Mary "Polly" Price, parents unknown at this point. By 1860 Elizabeth Boardwine was living back in Russell Co. and she and her children were using the Boardwine name instead of Mayo and John Mayo cannot be found.
