Mike Joyce, I too am trying to untangle the Taylor and Sword families. I am very interested in your letter. Who was John Mayo and where was he living when he wrote to the Boothes? I am descended from William Taylor (1785-1860) and Mary/Polly Sword's (1793-1863) son Samuel Gilbert Taylor (1811-1852) who left Russell County ca 1829 to move to Indiana with his new wife Nancy Phipps, her father Jesse Phipps and her brothers. My William, I believe, was brother to your Samuel Taylor with the two or more wives. I would be happy to share information.
