I have the article that tells about the killing of Deputy Smith - who was part of the possee that was killed also - I would like to see the article talking about Peter Dickenson. "Deputy Sheriff S. Smith of Russell County, was killed one day last week by being shot from ambush by George Pilkins. The the 9th inst. Pilkins killed an old colored man, Peter Dickenson, and made his escape. A reward of $200 was offered for his capture. The sheriff of the county formed a posse to capture Pilkins and in the posse was Deputy Sheriff Smith. He was trying to head off Pilkins when he was shot. The balance of the posse heard the report of the gun and on reaching Smith found him dead.Shot in the breast. Pilkins made his escape.
