    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: dungannonramp Surnames: Wheeler, Evans Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.virginia.counties.russell/1043.1247.2.1.1.2.1.1.1.1.2.1.3.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Yes I believe William Wheeler of Tumbling Creek was another family of Wheelers separate from the Sinclair Bottom Wheelers. THat doesn't make it a documented fact. Just from what I've been able to piece together. DNA. William Wheeler of Tumbling Creek and James Wheeler of Sinclair Bottom both have a set of y-dna results from a descendant of theirs on familytreedna.com. Both those families are activily looking for others to participate. It would be interesting if your Wheelers match either of these. You only have to go on there and click on projects. Click on the W's and go to Wheeler. Last time I checked there were 52 participants. I do not believe any descendent of your John Wheeler of Yancy Co. N.C. has sent in a cheek swab to test his y-dna. THere may be one. Just don't know. If theres not any male Wheeler descendents left in your family, you're out of luck. Takes a male father son father son. Y-dna follows fathers sons indefinitely. Hopefully your line hasn't "daughtered out" THe trick is to find a match between your documented Wheelers DNA and another documented Wheelers dna. If possible get as many samples from your cousins as possible. You have to reduce the uncertainty of who you actually are related to, and trying to "benchmark" your Wheeler ancester. THat is without a shadow of a doubt that a Wheeler ancester you have identified is your Wheeler familys ancester. You then try and fill in the blanks. I'm not a Wheeler but my Evans line is doing just what I'm describing to you. Not easy. I do believe that if you have a paper trail back to Washington Co. Va. for your John Wheeler Yancy Co. N.C. he was probably a son of one of the Sinclair Bottom Wheelers, be it a son or grandson. Just to touch on a few records. I have a record or two of a Jonathan Wheeler living with a Jesse Wheeler( I've concluded there was more than 2 Jesse Wheelers, and could have been as many as 4) that I have no idea where he went. A David Wheeler also from Sinclair Bottom had 4 sons during his stay at Sinclair Bottom. I have no idea what happened to them, nor their names. Gladly will share with you but not on here. Would take a month. John Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
