    1. [VARUSSEL] The East Kentuckian 1981 - 2001 is Ready
    2. Michael Dye
    3. Folks, The first group of The East Kentuckian genealogical quarterly magazine, those from 1981 - 2001, is ready (Note: Only two issue were published in 1995 and none in 1996 or 1997). This is a complete run of the magazine during that period and totals 73 issues, most having 40 pages, except for the last few which have more. I'm able to put all 73 issues on one DVD and should be able to put them on 3 CDs by reducing file sizes. If you'd like to see a table of contents for each issue, I've loaded them up on the website in two parts which can be seen at these links: http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~varussel/pubs/ektoc1.pdf http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~varussel/pubs/ektoc2.pdf While formatting them I noticed quite a few southwest virginia families that had migrated to KY. Like the others before, the price for the DVD is $20 and $25 for CDs and both prices include shipping. If you'd like to make payment via Paypal, send it to me at my other email address, madyev82@aol.com. You can also send a personal check to me at my mailing address below. I'll start working on getting 1965 - 1980 scanned and formatted now. Mike Michael A. Dye 207 Deershadow Road Maineville, Oh. 45039

    3. Molly, It was hard for me to find it at first. You have to move right of the section the link takes you to. It is on page two (the one that the link goes to), but in about the center of the page, at top, and there is a big photo of Andrew Kiser and his friend. The headline is under the main headline, and reads "Confederate Vet Passes Century Mark." Tax lists in the Upper District 1785-1792 John then appears to be replaced by a Benjamin Lewis who appears in the Upper District in the 1787 tax records and disappears in 1799 most likely because he lived in that part of Russell that became Tazewell Co. There is a Benjamin Lewis listed in the petition to form Tazewell Co. VA it is possible that this is the Benjamin Lewis that married Rachel McGuire daughter of William McGuire of Tazewell. Can anyone make these identifications? Mandy Colgan Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
