Hi Janice, et al, I don't think I have any connection to the confederate Veteran Wilburn Hale described below, but just in case, could someone give me a brief outline on his ancestry. My HALEs came from Halifax County, NC to Hawkins County, TN in the 1790s, but there are several male HALEs from the Halifax County family that we have never been able to identify. Curiously, my 2nd great-grandfather, Kindred Hale, and his sons, Lazarus Hale, my great-grand uncle, and Wiley Mitchell Hale, my great-grandfather, moved from Hawkins County to Russell County, probably between about 1862 and 1865. Kindred died in Russell County sometime before 1897, Lazarus went on to spawn a large HALE clan in Buchanan County, VA, and Wiley moved back to Hawkins County in the late-1800s. I don't think I am connected, but would appreciate any information on the Wilburn Hale described below. Thanks, John Hale Williamsburg, VA In a message dated 8/11/2009 2:08:24 PM Eastern Daylight Time, janice_b@verizon.net writes: The John F. McElhenny Camp Sons of Confederate Veterans, assisted by UDC members, will present an iron cross at a dedication honoring Confederate veteran Wilburn Hale on Sunday, August 16 at 3:00PM. Those attending will meet at about 2:30 at the Gravel Lick Old Regular Baptist Church on Gravel Lick Road, between Hamlin and Clinchfield to travel to the cemetery. The public is invited to attend.
Jack, Thank you for this documentation of William Fuller Jessee & Mary Elizabeth Jane Fuller, whose roots are a veritable history of SW VA founding families. I will share this with the Jessee List, and include it in the next Jessee Newsletter. William Fuller is the son of Elder David Jessee and Kathie Banner, and Mary Elizabeth is the daughter of William Isaiah Fuller and Mary Polly Burk. To see their pedigree, search for William fuller Jessee, Jr. RIN 4738 in the database at www.jessee.org.
