I meant to put that the first William A. Harrison, born in 1818 was father to Clark. Also, that Clark named a son after him, the William A. who married Mary Cochran. I don't know how I got it all mixed up, because I had all that in my notes in front of me! Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 3. I personally like to think that God appoints someone from each family branch to be the family historian and the nudges are from Him. I love the way He keeps leading me to find the historians in our family that are 2nd and 3rd cousins, who are also the only ones in their family who have been impressed to do the family research. Harrison's wife Susan is listed as being born in Surry Co., NC. There is also a Thomas J. Davis, age 29, also born in Surry Co., NC. He's very possibly Susan's brother. I had also previously received information from Marilyn McInnish that Susan's maiden name may have been Christian. Since the Ray family came to Russell Co. abt 1800 and Susan wasn't born until 1814 in Surry Co., it makes me doubt that her maiden name was Ray. Didn't you mean the first William A. Harrison, b. 1818 was the father of Clark Harrison, b. 1839? At least that's the way it seems on the 1850 census. Unless there's another Clark Harrison I'm unaware of. Then I have that he died between 1850-1860. But I have his second wife as a Susan Ray, born 1814 in Rosedale, Russell County, VA. They had a daughter named Jane born in 1848. But, I failed to make a note on where I got the name Susan Ray, so it may very well be wrong. I looked back at my notes and saw that I had just written the wrong one down for the marriage of William. I also have a marriage written below that for Clark's son, John Harrison to Pricy J. Anderson on March 5, 1881. Thank you for bringing this to my attention. Harrisons confused. Note you said he married his first wife in 1883 and that he died between 1850 and 1860. Obviously it would have been impossible to marry in 1883 if he had already been deceased for approx. 30 years. The records I have indicate that the William A. Harrison b. abt 1818 in Wake Co., NC was first married 03 Mar 1835 in Wake Co., NC to Mary McKee, d/o Rankin McKee & Lydia Ray. Mary died sometime after 1843 and William then married to Susan who may have been a Christian or a Davis. The William A. Harrison who married on 16 Oct 1883 in Dickenson Co. to Mary Cochran was born abt. 1867 and was a son of Clark & Sarah Harrison. 1. Re: [VARUSSEL] Topographic Cemetery Maps
    2. Michelle Ligon
    3. Mike, I think this type of mapping of the cemeteries is a great idea. I know it will be very useful to me. It does seem like a book would be a great companion to take along whenever I go on a Russell County hunt, and the CD a very useful companion to the book. And if you put it on disk, I presume we could then print them in any case and take along then too. So, maybe putting it on disk for now is a good idea, then the book could be finished in your "spare" time. You know better than I what is required, so my advice is to not overextend your own resources, whatever you decide to do. You do so much for Russell County researchers. Thank you, Michelle
