To interject a thought, I believe James Wheeler married a Harrison in Washington Co. Va about 1792. He was living in Washington Co. Va at the time he got married. Given the fact that much has been written about the Wheelers who were born and died at Wheelers Ford, most of it something someone made up, one can understand how confusion could occur concerning the 3 Harrisons buried in the Wheeler Cemetery. Many writers would have the whole Wheeler family who lived in Washington Co. in the forks of the Middle Fork Holston River and the South Fork Holston River living at Wheelers Ford, and running a Ferry here before the first white man ever set foot in the Castlewood area 1765-1770. THe fact that my Wheeler ancester, Jesse, a brother to Rev. Stephen Wheeler, and Jesse's son Stephen have been erroneously put on the internet, and many genealogy sites as living in Wise Co. St Paul, obvious to me no records have ever been researched, but conclusions reached without good research. It makes it hard to wade through all the misinformation. Many have James Harrison Wheeler born at Wheelers Ford, but forgetting the fact that his father and mother got married in Washington Co. Va. paid their land and property taxes ,lived and sold their land in Washington Co. Va. in the forks of the MFHR and SFHR Hungry Mothers Creek area, and moved to Floyd Co. Ky. from Wash. Co. Va. That said. THe 3 Harrisons buried in the Wheeler cemetery were buried there 1933, 1937, 1938. About 140 years after James Wheeler in Washingto Co. Va. married a Harrison. Thats a long stretch of the imagination to try and make a connection. Still many Wheeler researchers have tried to do that, adding to the confusion. I have him in the 1850 census also. I also have him with his second wife, Susan, and a child, Jane, born in about 1848. I am looking for a Theodore Roosvelt Ramey, born abt 1902 in Castlewood, Russell Co. Virginia. I do not have his parents names. I know that by the age of 18 he was married to a Mary Margerett Castle and had a son named Joseph. In 1920 they lived in Castlewood and remained there untill their deaths. Joseph was my grandfather. Since both were the only children in each family, I have only one family resouce and he is not much help.
I am trying to help my cousin find her family in SW Virginia. She is related to the Barnett and Turner families of that area, especially Russell, Tazewell, Buchanan and perhaps Dickensen Counties. Her grandfather was John Melvin Barnett of Raven. No one in the family knows his ancestry, because he was "adopted" (probably not legally) where he appeared in the 1920 census as John Newberry, age 14, adopted son of George and Lizzie Newberry of New Garden, Russell County. He married Lilly Adline Turner in the early 1920s, both being very young (he 15, she 11 - 1930 census). She was a daughter of John Tazewell Turner (5 Apr 1863-17 Jan 1941) and mother Laurie Katherine (--?--) of Russell County. (I've not traced this family back any farther, either.) John Melvin Barnett was born 4 Jul 1906 and died 24 Nov 1974 (SSDI, Newberry Cemetery, Horton Ridge). Russell County births shows a Gary Barnett born 13 Sep 1883 to Melvin H. and Virginia Barnett. What's interesting about this is that Melvin is John's middle name and his daughter was named Virginia. I am theorizing that they are his grandparents. I have no familiarity with the records of SW Virginia. Before writing to the Division of Vital Records in Richmond, I wanted to explore some other sources. Do you have anything on these families? Do you have any suggestions regarding doing research in SW Virginia? Genealogically yours, Bud Dorr

Why was he not mentioned in the 1804 Will. When you talk about the Primitive Pabtist church in regard the the Wheelers, are you talking about the St. Clair Bottoms church.
