    3. I would be most interested in knowing about the Porter cemetery as I visited it several years ago. (We had planned to buy the land and house but life happens.) I found it very unsettling that so many children were buried there. Do you know why the children died? Any info would settle my curiosity. 3. A handy tool for finding cemeteries is TopoQuest (USGS topographic maps). The Dungannon quad lists 2 Ramey cemeteries in the area to which Warren is referring: http://www.topoquest.com/map-detail.php?usgs_cell_id=13052 or, a search for Ramey shows 7 cems. in VA, 6 of which are in Russell / Scott / Wise / Buchanan: http://www.topoquest.com/find/place.php?state=VA&search_type=contains&name=Ramey&class=cemetery

    3.       Hi Sharon,  I think there is a Cemetery up on  " The Ridge Road " , which is about 3 hundred yards past / from the Scott & Russell County Line ( in Russell County) in The Sinkin' Community. Now I do not remember exactly where it is.        I think You go up the Mountain on " The Ridge Road " it is back in there about a mile, possibly as many as 4 miles up in there. If I remember right, it is off the Road a little ways, but I just can't tell You how far or exactly where !!  ??      If You go looking, Please stop & ask someone for help & directions !!     I also do know where there is another Cemetery, actually I know of 4 Cemeteries within 1 mile of each other there in The Sinkin' Creek Community .    3 of them are in in Scott County, & 1 in Russell County.       There is The  " Porter Cemetery ", which has also been called  " The Nash Porter Cemetery ".  This one is located on The Doc Porter, later Paul Porter Farm, about 3 quarters to a mile from the Scott Russell County Line.  My Great Grandmother Laura E. (Porter) Nash & Her Husband Fleetwood G. Nash & some of Their Children are buried there.  This one is in Scott County.       Next there is The Keith Cemetery, it is about a Half mile from the County Line. In Scott County.       Next there is the Nash Family Cemetery, where My Grandfather, George Washington Nash is buried. This one is less than a quarter mile from the County Line. More like about an 8 Th of a mile.  This is also in Scott County.       Then the next one, I think it is a Ramsey Family Cemetery.  I am almost Positive that this is A Ramsey Family Cemetery.   This one is not a Ramey Cemetery !!!!   This Ramsey Cemetery is located about a half a mile into Russell County, From the Scott & Russell County Line.  It is up on a hill top going out of The Sinking Creek Valley. It is just before You start down from the cut gorge going toward Mew, Castlewoods, before the old Arvill Porter Gas Station / Store.         You will have to call Me on this one so I can explain it in more detail. My Phone No. is (313)   885-4238.   I hope all of this is aleast some help to You.        Thank You For the Info on Margaret Ramey !!!!!   I do have the same Info on this one, but She is not My Great Great Grandmother !  My Margaret Ramey was born 1804 or 1809 not sure of the date, there is two dates that some of Us argue about. Well anyway She had My Great Grandmother, Louisa Jane Nash, Dec. 28, 1839. This Margaret Ramey is buried in The Nash Family Cemetery in Russell County at Nash's Ford near Cleveland, Va.                    GOD BLESS,                          WARREN --- On Fri, 4/16/10, speell <speell@windstream.net> wrote: From: speell <speell@windstream.net> Subject: Re: [VARUSSEL] Lost Cemetery To: varussel@rootsweb.com Date: Friday, April 16, 2010, 3:46 PM Hi Warren, Thank you.  It appears that the cemetery was very close to the Scott/Russell Co line -- an important clue. 2. WARREN RAMSEY, JR.
    3.      Hi All, If this Cemetery is in the Mew Community, then it is defiantly in Russell County, Va.       Mew is about 4 miles from The Sinking Creek Community, in Scott County,  5 miles from Dungannon, Va. The Scott County & Russell County line is at The Sinking Creek Community.         I know this to be accurate, because I lived in The Sinking Creek Community. My Grandmother Nash lived there most of Her Life. We could see the Russell / Scott County Line sign from Her House in Sinkin'.      I do not know where, or anything else about this Ramey Cemetery, but I would like to know more about it because I Descend from a Margaret Ramey. Margaret Ramey had two Children with or by William Nash, Jr.     Margaret Ramey 's Father was Jessee Ramey which I know almost nothing about. Perhaps He could be buried in this Cemetery ???   Maybe ?  I do not know who Her Mother was.  ?                     GOD BLESS ALL,                      WARREN RAMSEY, JR. --- On Wed, 4/14/10, Thomas Rudder <ruddert@sbcglobal.net> wrote: From: Thomas Rudder <ruddert@sbcglobal.net> Subject: Re: [VARUSSEL] Lost Cemetery To: varussel@rootsweb.com Date: Wednesday, April 14, 2010, 2:36 PM Elbert and Ella K Bowen were living in the Floyd District of Scott Co. in 1910 and that district joins Russell Co. just a short distance from the Buffalo section of Russell Co.  It's my belief that the cemetery was in Scott Co. -------------------------------------------------- From: "Janet Hankins" <rmony2@yahoo.com> Sent: Wednesday, April 14, 2010 11:02 AM To: <varussel@rootsweb.com> Subject: Re: [VARUSSEL] Lost Cemetery > Sharon, > Here's the respond I received from Elizabeth.........Sorry, wish we could > have helped more. > Janet > I am at a loss, I have never heard of this cemetery and we are in > dickenson county, I know very little about Russell county. 2. My great grandpa and his toddler daughter both died in Wilder, Russel County in 1923.I have her death certificate, but not his-just his date of death. I don't know what cemetery they were buried in, and would like to know if someone with any books could look for me if you get some extra time. If so, please reply and I will send info. Thank you. I'm not sure who all were buried there; I've only recently learned that there actually was a cemetery from an older family member and its location. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Thomas Rudder" <ruddert@sbcglobal.net> To: <varussel@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, April 12, 2010 3:59 PM Subject: Re: [VARUSSEL] Lost Cemetery > Whose gravestones are you looking for.
