I don't find record of him in 1900 census, so it could have been between 1897 and 1900 as well. If anyone knows of this family please let me know. Cornelius (aka "Neely") was the half-brother of my G-G-Grandfather Henderson Carroll McGlothlin. Wayne McGlothlin

Surnames: Moore, Morton, McFaddin, Puckett, Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/ABC.2ACE/3725 Message Board Post: Hello! I am hoping someone can help me out. I have been round and round over John William Moore and can find NO hits. Here is the info I do know: 1830 Russell County Census John W Moore born between 1770 and 1780 1840 No info 1850 Johnson County, Kentucky John W Moore - born circa 1775 living in the Ward home. Next Lourinda B Moore, daughter of John William Moore married William Morton and had Florence Gray Morton who married James Hopkins McFaddin in Russell County, Virginia. They had Ed McFaddin born in Paintsville, Johnson County, Kentucky he married my great grandmother Lucinda Hasque (Eskew). Lourinda had a sister named Mildred Moore who appears on the records of Russell county from 1840 to 1860. She later moved to Magoffin County, Kentucky, neighboring county to Johnson County. I am trying to find any info I can on his wife or other childrens names. I have a wonderful story that was written by one of Mildred's daughters who talks of traveling alone with her small children from Ohio back through Johnson County, Kentucky mentioning her grandfather John William Moore and she was headed to her mothers (Mildred Moore) in Russell County. I do not know what became of John William Moore's wife or other family other I know that a daughter married a Jeremiah Puckett, The names I know are Virginia, Margaret, George, Lourinda, and Mildred. They were all born in Albemarle County, Virginia. I have seen on the Russell County Annotated census these names but cannot firm. It appears that Mildred Moore married a Henry Moore, but she appeared as head of house on the 1840 census and later had children after this date, so not sure who the father is of these kids as she was head of house on the 1850 Russell County census. If anyone can help, I would greatly apprec! iate it. I am been researching this line for over 15 years now.

At the Russell County website there is a section on Harlan County, KY coal miners and I was wondering if you could find out where the death list in the mines came from. I am looking for the mine that listed the 1918 death for Creech and Denny. Also the Russell County website states that you could look up a death record for 1918 in Russell County. Would you look for William Lewis Denny for 1918? Thanks for any help.

    1. Re: [VARUSSEL] Romine & Ferrell-FERRELL CEMETERY
    2. Hi Brenda: The Remines and Ferrells are connected but in a different pattern: Rebecca (Romaine) Remine is the sister of William Hoffmeyer Remine. She is married to Richard Ferrell born 1776, and an uncle to Richard (Remine) Ferrell born 1798. Elizabeth Ferrill born 1778 is the youngest sister of Richard Ferrell born 1776. Their father was William Ferrell who was killed on June 15, 1778, and their mother was Martha Thompson, who later married William Evans. William H Remine and Elizabeth Ferrill had a child in 1798. His name is Richard (Remine) Ferrell. Richard passed away in 1862. The land in which the cemetery is located belonged to Samuel Romine thru a land warrant for service in the Revolutionary War. Samuel was the father of Rebecca and Willaim H. Romine. In 1828 the land was transferred to Richard Romine Ferrell. These records are at the Russell County Court. Hope this helps. If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. Cindy Ferrell PS: Interesting name for a medical lab. Where are you located?

    3. I'm researching the Dixon surname. John W. Dixon married to Annie Caudill. They had a son, J.T. born Mar 19, 1910 in Dante, Russell County. Later I'm told J. T. took the name John T. Dixon. The 1910 Castlewood precinct census contains a J. G. Dixson age 27 (about 1882) married to Annie M. age 25 with two sons W.N. age 5 and J. T age 1/12. This is possibly John W. and Annie Dixon. The age of J. T. fits. The only thing I know about the parents of John W. Dixon is that his father was called Hen. In Washington County I have found a Henry Dixon, the son of William, that may be a connection (father) to a John W. Dixon in Russell County. According to the 1900 census Henry was born in Apr. 1839 and had a son Johnnie born in Jun 1881. This is my first lead. The Dixon line is my daughter-in-laws family. Right now I'm stopped at this Hen Dixon. If anyone has any information about these Dixon's or other connection please respond directly or through this list. Larry
