Her son John Wyatt 1835-Apr 27 1885 is also buried there. some of Her many children are Louisa Wyatt Ball wife of James W Ball m 6/27/1867 Ellen Wyatt Thompson wife of Alderson J Thompson m 11/6/1871 C J Wyatt husband of Sarah J Davis 2/18/1871 Livicy Lindsey Wyatt husband of Emma Perkins 10/10/1871 Martha J Wyatt wife of Henry C Hess 10/11/1864 Elizabeth Wyatt wife of Sylvester A Albert 8/31/1866 The marriages were all in Russell Co there are other Children in the 1850-1860-1870 Russell Co Census. My quest is to find proof that she is the Dau of Peter Wyatt and Elizabeth Wyatt. These are some points that I see. 1. She was born in SC in 1812, Peter's Wyatt wife Hanna Bibb was born in SC she was the Dau of William C Bibb and Sarah Sallie Booker Clarke. And Peter was Living in SC/Ga in 1812. 2. Elizabeth Wyatt the oldest Dau was born in Grayson Co Va in 1839. Peter's wife was Elizabeth and they lived in Grayson before moving to Russell. My GG Grandmother Lidia Jane Wyatt Hicks was born in Grayson. 3. Hannah named her old son John B 1835, Hanna Bibb Wyatt second marriage was too a Capt. John Little. So you can see why I think Hannah Wyatt is the Dau of Peter Wyatt, any feedback on this would be most helpful. Thanks Dave Hicks

Hi, Amy, The pictures came through beautifully! And I promptly told Dick we need a camera, or whatever it takes, to do that sort of thing. Your boys are so wonderful. Please tell them we are waiting for the warmer weather so they can come to BB. I told Keith that I happened to see an ad on TV for a program called besmartkids.com and immediately thought of Alex because he fits that "smart kid" place. I'll didn't pursue it , so I can't give you a clue, but the claim was that having a child in the program gives him/her an advantage time-wise. Of course, there is a price, as always. Don't know what that will be. Today I went to a luncheon meeting for "Daughters of Pioneers" and enjoyed it. Haven't been able to join before now, but think I will. One's ancestors must have been the state before 1870 to be eligible. There are a bunch of those in this state. It seems to me that young people like you do not do much joining in such organizations. No need to ask why! Three lively boys. WE had a Christmas card from Nicole with pictures of her two and the news that she is pregnant with her third and it will be a boy. In March. And I think that is Andrea's due date And a boy for her. We were very sorry to hear a bout Tony's accident, and the orders to stay completely down for a spell. You just added another boy to your care list. Sorry I can't offer some respite care to you. But this too shall pass. Tony will be able to give us all some lessons in patience. Weather-wise, it's cold! But invigorating and I am enoying being home, seeing the snow and doing some projects that have been on hold for some twenty years. The life style was great, but so is what we are doing now. Much love to you and your family. Come up whenever you can. Gram D

I would be very proud of Native American ancestry but it doesn't bother me either way. I just like to find information that is at least 75 to 80 percent accurate. The McGee's of Patrick county are pretty numerous. My 4th great grandmother Sarah McGee Boyd married in 1826, Angus McGee was the surety but that isn't definite proof that's her dad. He didn't get married until 1818 that I can find. As for Martha Jane McGee Compton (b.1825) I don't know for sure but Angus could have been her dad. Martha McGee (b.1797 or 1777) which ever record you chose to believe, is Martha Jane's mother. She was the one that is supposed to be indian. I haven't found a photograph of Martha Jane Compton yet even though I have looked for years and years. However her children were pretty dark skinned. I've managed to find photos of 7 out of 9 children. I just wonder if the DNA test can verify how far back the indian ancestry is if the genes are present? It would be nice if there was a test for Melungeon heritage like that.

Apparently early settlers in Eastern VA, mostly English, were starving. The Indians saved them by teaching them to gather roots. Apparently Tuckahoe referred collectively to edible wild roots which included things like yams, indian turnips, jack-in-the-pulpits, ramps and other bulbs. It seems that people who were poor hunters had to gather roots for food and were called Tuckahoes. When the migrants moved west they were called Tuckahoes and sometimes "tuckers". It is interesting that in Australia where I go frequently on business they call food that can be scavaged in the outback "Tucker". Don't know if it is in any way related to "Tuckahoe". On the more relevant topic of indian genealogy, there are blood tests which can be done. There are 5 genes which only come from Native Americans. If you have those genes you are cetain to have some sort of Indian ancestor. I got tired of the rumors and took the test and found that yes I had indian blood. Then I spent years researching trying to prove which of my ancestors were Indian and what tribes. My evidence would not stand up in court but it has convinced me that my Great Grandmother was as she claimed, full Cherokee, and her husband was half Irish and half Delaware. It can be done. You have to enjoy solving the puzzle because once you prove it, so what? People are people are people. Genealogy has to be fun to be worthwhile.

VA British people". When they entered the Valley of Virginia, the Scots, Germans, and Ulsterites (so-called "Scots-Irish") called the E. VA people "Tuckahoes" who, in turn, called them "Cohees". I agree with Garry - very little substantiation can ever be obtained on Indian ancestry (in VA, especially) and it is almost a sure case that the tales of "full-blooded Indian" are generally very false in SW VA (especially after the early 1700's). Just my opinion though. Jack
