Surnames: MCREYNOLDS, WHITE Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/ABC.2ACE/3782 Message Board Post: Does anyone know what happened to Frances McReynolds, daughter of Joseph and Mary Bush McReynolds? The last census I found her in was 1860 living with her father, Joseph, and some younger children: Joseph, age 12, M; Priscilla, age 9, F; McReynolds, Millard F., age 6, M; William, age 3, M; John, age 2, M. I know that Frances, Joseph and Priscilla were full brothers and sisters, I don't know who the three younger boys were, unless Joseph remarried and had more children. I would like to know if Frances married or died. She was also called Fanny in one of the censuses. She lived in Russell and Scott Counties in VA. Thanks for any help. Phyllis

    2. The only information I have for him is that he was born in 1841 the son of Andrew L. Jackson (b. 1810) and nancy McGlothlin (b. 1819), who was the daughter of jacob McGlothlin. I have Andrew's father as Richard Jackson married to Marian. Anyone know what Marian's maiden name was and her family? I also would like dates of birth.

    2. I have been going through papers, folders, old census records, etc. I found a photo album with pictures of various people that I had copied back in 1972 when I was a thorn in the side of my children's West VA and Va. connection. I made it a point to label all the pictures that were shared with me. As a result, I have a picture of Jane Lockhart born 1850. Please let me know if anyone would like the tif. And please email me at pk129@aol.com so we don't inundate the web site.

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/ABC.2ACE/3778.1.1.1 Message Board Post: Thank you for your reply to my posting. The Appalachian Quarterly published an article on the Riggs family in their June 2002 issue. The research appears to be very thorough and the place of birth for William Riggs is given as New Jersey - the source for this information is Jessee Gilly (b. 1844), son-in-law of Hiram Riggs. Rita Kennedy Sutton wrote the article and she is now deceased. Hiram Riggs' 1880 census record states his father's place of birth as New Jersey. Sarah Shepherd (Hiram's sister) states her father's pob as Connecticut. So, they have both placed William in the same area. One thing I have noticed in researching the various Richmonds, is there is usually a Riggs family nearby. In 1767/1768 John Richmond and John Riggs are both issued separate land grants in Mecklenburg County, NC. Joel Riggs has been listed as the father of William Riggs and he appears in Rutherford County NC in 1779 as a witness on a land grant. Has anyone else tried to connect the Mecklenburg Riggs to the Riggs in SW VA?

They descend from William Riggs and Sarah Richmond's son Hiram and his wife Lavina Shepherd. Traditional information has William Riggs b. 1765 in Union Co NJ but Riggs researchers in that area have been unable to place him there. Knowing the history of SW VA the information you posted makes far more sense. Willing to share what I have on descendents.

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/ABC.2ACE/3778.1 Message Board Post: I am researching the Russell County Richmonds as well. I am a descendent of Sarah Richmond daughter of John Richmond. Sarah married William Riggs. William Riggs appears as an assignee of John Richmond in Washington County, VA dated June 5, 1795. I have found the Riggs family living in Mecklenburg County NC in 1766 near the Richmond family and for this reason believe there may be a connection. I have also found the Riggs family in Caswell County when the Richmond family is there. I still have a lot of sorting out to do. I would be interested in sharing more information with you about these two families.
