Doris is also a field editor for “Country Magazine”. Everyone is invited to come and bring a friend! The Group’s purpose is “to learn, to share and to perpetuate family history.” All those with these same interests are invited to attend. For more information contact Sunset Salyers at 889-0437 or sunset@mounet.com.
I was wondering if someone is going to the courthouse in Russell County, if they could see if there is a marriage certificate there for a Herndon. I need to know the cost of the certificate and postage for mailing it to me. The marriage certificate is for John Moses (Rev, Johnie) Herndon and Huldy E. Taylor. The certificate is for the date of December 17, 1908. If someone can help with this, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Connie (Herndon) Gerhart __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! Mail has the best spam protection around http://mail.yahoo.com

From Greg Lapore's site it says that Tyler died January 19, 1917. But I don't know where he's buried. I don't think Mary Jane was in the 1920 census so she may have died by then also but I'm not for sure. I was thinking about giving R.C. a call but he doesn't know me so I figured I best leave it up to you to ask for whereabouts of a possible picture of Mary and Tyler. Chris

Hello, Are these Thompson's related to Lillian Dean (who died before 1846 and was the daughter of John Dean) who married Unknown Thompson and had the children: Alexander, John and Elizabeth. John Dean also lived in Wayne County, WV. I saw where you have William Abraham as being one of your ancestors. Are you aware that William Abraham moved to Wayne County, West Virginia in about 1862 and served in the Confederate Army.
I am also descended from Jacob and Joanna Thompson. According to Russell County census, Joanna's parents were Abraham and Leanna Johnson Owens. Leanna Johnson's parents were William Johnson and Susannah Thompson Johnson. Susannah Thompson was a sister to William Thompson who married Nancy Jackson. I have written a book on the Thompson Family of Wayne County and it includes many Thompsons from Russell County. Zaddock's full name was Zaddock Nathaniel Thompson. He was born in 1853 in Russell County. He married Mary Wallis first in 1876 in Russell County. She drowned and "Dock" moved to Wayne County, West Virginia where he married his distant cousin Ada Crabtree. He had one son named Melvin with Mary Wallis. Dock and Ada's children were George W., Cumberland, Mary, William Henry "Henley", Solomon Grover Cleveland, Leonundas "Lonnie", Zeddie Gilmer, Elizabeth, Laura, and one unnamed child. Dock moved to Wayne County, WV in late 1878 or early 1879. He settled on Bartram Fork and is buried there. I have a picture of Dock as well. Are you related to this family?
