    3. Michelle, you guys are great! I've been trying for about a month to get more info on this line and you guys do it in a couple of days. Now, to input this in my program and see where I go from there. Sometimes it seems almost overwhelming, but I just take it one step at a time. Thanks again. Linda Housh -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Michelle Ligon Sent: Tuesday, April 22, 2008 9:25 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [VARUSSEL] Alben / Allen Hi Linda, I believe Alben is possibly Allen, and Elizabeth was called Betsy. It is possible that Henry was Emory Henry. Or, this could be another family. See the 1850 census record below. His death record on the Federal Mortality Schedules indicates he was in Buchanan County at the time (1880) and had been living there for 24 years, since 1856. On the 1870, he is there with Rebecca age 27, and there is no indication if she is wife or other but she is "Keeping House." Cosby E. is noted to be a Domestic Servant, and there is no indication as to whom the younger children belong to. Hopefully more research will put more pieces together. I am not able to find an 1860 or 1840 record for Allen Gross. 3. Randy, thank you so much! It's great to get this info. Henry Harvey Gross was my paternal g-g-grandfather. Does this make us related somehow? Do you have any other info on the Gross line. I thought Henry's dad's name was Alben, but maybe it was because someone couldn't read it. Now, to try to get more info on them and on Allen Gross. Then I'll try to track down the Haywood. Again, thanks a million. 3. Gabriel Lafayette Rasnake is my paternal gg grandfather. Through a collaborative family effort in late December 2006, I submitted the lineage as an update to Judge Sutherland's book entitled "Some Descendants of John Counts of Glade Hollow." The update is shown on the web site: www.sutherlandbooks.com/products.html. Once you are on the site, look down the left side and click-on Additions and Corrections to the Counts' Second Edition. Once you bring up the updates, you will need to scroll down to page 37-38 to view the update on Gabriel Lafayette Rasnake. You may also wish to view the Rasnick/Rasnake/Rasnic/Ruhrschneck public site: http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~jacobrasnickproject. If you are a descendant and wish to become part of the private site, which contains much more information, you may email the site's administrator and request an invitation: [email protected] I would love to learn about your connection to our unique family. 3. I have heard the name "Julia" in connection with Rachel, but I have never heard a father's name of Bessie or Rachel. Everyplace that Bessie lists her parents, she only lists Rachel. I don't know if this was because her father had died or what. Bessie later married Ranzy McGlothlin and Rachel later married William Harvey Perkins. I was told that Bessie and her brother and sister ran away from the reservation, but I don't know if this is true. If it is, I don't know which reservation. Thanks for your help. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of SGaborik Sent: Tuesday, April 22, 2008 7:14 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [VARUSSEL] "What part of Va?" There is a line that reads: "Dead - rejecting ____ due ____ ___ to Hon JC Mitchell HR 27 March 1828" I can't make out three of the words. Also, there is a letter from L. Trewhitt of Cleveland TN dated 1844 saying William Dennis Hampton was long since dead, but that his heirs wanted to apply for the bounty land warrant that he never rec'd.
