I do not wish to start a war myself but I went into my printouts of VA and found the following info in maps. Janes post stated Fincastle as a county. 1772-- Fincastle from Botetourt, Dunmore from Frederick, Berkeley from Fredrick. Fincastle was on the lower protion of VA and Botetpourt was on the upper side of Fincastle both exteded west into indian territory. 1776-- Fincastle divided into Kentucky, Montgomery, Washington, pending. Yohogania, Monongalia, Ohio from Augusta. Henry from Pittsylvania, pending. [Which at this point Fincastle County no long exhists.] 1778--Illinois from Augusta. Rockbridge from Augusta, Botetourt. Rockingham from Augusta. Dunmore name changed to Shenandoah. Greenbirer effective. I have the CD of the AntiMap by Gold Bug and if anyone wishes more clearity in these early counties I can surly provide it for you. Seasons Greetings and Hopes for a exceptional New Year.
