Hello, I've been involved with researching my family tree for a dozen years or more, and have been using Rootsweb lists for several years, but only recently joined this list. A brick or stone wall of mine that seems impenetrible is my 3rd great grandfather, Caleb ANDERSON, born about 1801 -- possibly in Halifax County, Virginia -- and died around 1870, also most likely in Halifax County. He married Nancy FIRESHEETS, daughter of Johann Heinrich (John Henry) and Keziah (Jones) FIRESHEETS, in Halifax County in October 1826. Their son, Charles Chesley [or Chesley Charles, depending on the source], was my 2nd great grandfather and he married Harriett Nancy WALKER. Their son, Chesley Samuel, married 1st Ida Hill Moss [of Nash County, North Carolina], and they became my great grandparents through their son John Buchanan ANDERSON, born in 1895 in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, who married Carol Landon YEATTS of Pittsylvania County, Virginia. Unfortunately, because of the extraordinary number of ANDERSONs in Halifax County, Virginia, and the limited number of records readily available, I can't trace the family any further. I've done all I can with locally available records and haven't had an opportunity to do much online since my father's death 5 years ago. I'd appreciate receiving whatever help anyone can give me. If somebody can identify specific sources that would contain information useful for me, I'll be glad to try to obtain copies myself. I'm just at a loss for the best way to turn at this point.
