    2. Conatact the current Danville newspaper and see if they were around at that time. If they were - ask where you can find archives back that far. If they were not - someone there can probably tell you what newspapers were there. You can also try the Danville libraries. The Virginia State Library has a large collection of newspapers too. Contact them and see if they can find anything for you. Godo luck - reading the old newspapers is a wonderful experience. Thompson was killed by a moving train on October 3, 1876 in Clover, VA at a train stop. According to letter in Civil War file of Joshua's he had a Inquest. Person says they buried him in Danville Cemetery, VA. I called the Danville Cemetery and they say he is not there. He was a Civil War veteran but not sure if buried as veteran since he was buried by traveling circus he worked for, however if buried as veteran, they would have record of his burial there. Were there any other Danville Cemeteries in this area in 1876? Anyone have any suggestions how to find newspaper account of this accident...he fell from a moving train trying to board it. 3. Danville has a most active genealogy society with more than 600 members from all over the country, an excellent library (a large room in the public library) and an excellent journal too. Its name: Piedmont VA.-N.C. Genealogical Society (4 adjoining VA. counties and 3 adjoining N.C. ones) P.O. box 2272 Danville 24541-0272 e-mail: vanccoc@gamewood.net Dues are $15 a year and well worth it for the quarterly, Piedmont Lineages. They have many publications, answer questions and post queries for members. E. Kaspar I have belonged for some years...and I live in ILL.!
