No phones worked: The problem we found with a phone that has a power box type electric wall plug in & then the clip into the regular phone jack is that it must use electric. We always have one "old type" phone that you just use in the phone jack. Gas pumps: With all the new electronic gas pumps, I am surprised any even worked, they must have a backup power supply built in.
