    1. [VAROOTS] SEEKING: JOHNSON
    2. Dear List, Seeking any information on my Unk JOHNSON ancestor. From a pre-1923 manuscript: "was a soldier from VA during the Rev. War. He had a large family of boys: migrated to E. TN after the war (where?), gained considerable wealth, lost his land in TN due to legal dispute, then, with some of his boys, moved to DeKalb Co. (Sand Mt.) AL @1820 where he shortly died." I have two proven sons of the above listed man: John Johnson, b. 1780/90 & d. 1854 MO. John m. twice. First wife unk., but there were 2 children, Canaday (b. 1810) and Sally, (b. 1813). John m. second, Loveth (Lovie) Pullen @1820. Lovie b. 1802 and d. 1882 MO. Children of John & Lovie: Elizabeth, b. 1821 AL or TN: William, b. 1823 AL: Eliza Ann, b. 1825 AL: Harvey, b. 1827 AL: Matilda Jane, b. 1830, Thomas Marion, b. 1834 AL: and Aaron Francis, b. 1837 AL. Family migrated to Texas, Dent and Phelps Counties in MO @ 1850. I have a great deal of info on the families of John (my ancestor) and his only proven sibling, William. Widow of William Johnson shows on 1830 census of Warren Co. TN. In another tidbit of information, it states that the parents of John & William established or bought an iron foundry in E. TN in late 1700's. This iron foundry supposedly was destroyed by "The Tipton Gang" @1794. Any help appreciated. I have batted my head against the wall endless hours on John Johnson & his brother, William Johnson. Have records of them, and will exc. Sincerely, Judy in TX Also, brother to John is William Johnson, b. 1774/77 & d. 15 Jan 1815 at Battle of New Orleans.
