I can't think of a better place to ask this. I am going to Virginia this December to "dig up" some old cemeteries. Some are on maps, but most are just in the memories of residents. Once I do find them (assuming I can), I would like to positively identify their location. Hence the need for a hand-held GPS. I would very much apprecreate anyone's input who has one regarding make, model, and ease of use. Please let me hear from you. I just got back from a trip to MO and from there, by car, to VA, locating and marking several cemeteries. The Hertz car that we rented happened to have a GPS system that was mostly very helpful. There appears to be some differences between the GPS coordinates on the GNIS maps and the GPS system in the car, but we got to almost all of them. This system, in addition to the degrees/minutes/seconds, gives you "2 miles east from Hwy x, 1.3 miles north from Hwy y", which is really great for giving others directions. This system was an "add-on", but was obviously adapted for Hertz. It was so helpful, in fact, that I intend to also get a "handheld" system (hope it has a nice voice, as the Hertz system did <G>). So, I hope anyone responding to this query will answer to the list, so we can all benefit from the info.
