Much circumstantial evidence indicates that my gg grandfather William J. Ledford (bn circa 1822 Northumberland Co. Va.) was the son of John Ledford and his 3d wife Sally Hurst Ledford(m.Aug. 24, 1816 - Sally may have been nee Edwards daughter of Richard who married Willis Hurst Dec. 14, 1812 and later widowed. Elizabeth Howson Ledford, granddaughter of John Howson were married in Northumberland Co. VA.in 1842. Two children were the issue of this marriage James Ledford and Elizabeth Ledford James and Elizabeth Judith Garlington were married Jan 9. 1770 and were the parents of John Ledford bn.1776.
