William L. WINDSOR, 1850 DC Census, Age 19 - William L. WINDSOR was married to Catherine R. ADAMS in DC on September 8, 1853. The 1860 DC Census shows William WINDSOR, Catherine, Robert J., Mary, and William H. living in a household. It appears that William and Catherine divorced as Catherine married Samuel B. BAYLISS in DC on December 24, 1868. The 1870 DC Census (7th ward p. 470) lists Catherine BAYLISS, Saml BAYLISS, Mary WINSOR (age 15), Wm. WINSOR (age 10), and Jno BAYLISS (8 mos., b. Oct.). Robert J. WINDSOR was not shown in this household. We think the article below is about William L's son, William H (words are spelled just as they were in the Washington Post): **************************************************** The Washington Post. May 11, 1911. WINDSOR'S BODY FOUND. Employe of Dredging Company Was Drowned Five Weeks Ago. The body of William Windsor, 50 years old, of 1306 Four-and-a-Half street southwest, who was drowned near Colonial Beach, Va., was found yesterday morning floating in the water several miles from where the drowning occurred. Windsor was employed by the John Miller Dredge and Sand Company, of this city. It has been more than five weeks since the man was missed from the dredging machine by other employes of the company. Ever since that time the authorities of Colonial beach have been searching for the body. The police of this city were notified of the finding of the body by telephone last night, and immediately sent word to the dead man's relatives, who will probably bring the remains home for burial today. ************************************************* 1880 DC Census (p.162D) shows Samuel and Catharine BAYLISS and three additional children (George W., Francis L. [female], and Jessie M. [female]). We have not been able to prove that William L. Windsor was remarried . We have NOT found a marriage record; we only have Reburta's obituary. (See the Washington Post article below.) Reburta is buried in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in DC. ************************************** The Washington Post. June 24, 1910. DIED.
