Virginia - if you are having no luck at RW, chances are it's going to turn out the same else where, as they all have access to the exact same database ... one explanation for someone to be missing from the index, IS could it be that NO death benefit was ever paid out on the person that you are searching for ... both my Dad and his father are NOT listed in the SSDI, and the death benefit was NOT applied for, on either one ... gr'dpa died in 1974 and Dad died in 1998 ... also if the person in question, choose to draw on his RailRoad pension [ IF he had worked for the RxR ] ... he would NOT be listed in the SSDI either, because one can draw on "only" one or the other NOT both :) my other gr'dpa got left out of the SSDI because of drawing on his RxR pension ...
