    3. Subject: 1679 Inventory of Judith Burton Hunt Parker; Surry Because of her wealth and most interesting assets, I have posted the previously unpublished (except in my book) intestate appraisement/inventory of widow Judith (Burton?) Hunt Parker (c1630-1679), the original being in the VA Library/Archives. Judith married first William Hunt (1625/30-1668), by whom she had William Hunt, Jr., Mary, and perhaps Judith (Jr.) and others. In late 1668-early 1669 she married Richard Parker (c1630-1677), scofflaw, sometimes pewterer/brazier and sometimes physician, by whom she, at once, had Richard Parker, Jr. Judith died a wealthy widow in the summer of 1679. With arrows, I have noted the raw pewter left over from Richard's calling, a "pile of books", remarkably, a "recorder, 2 flutes and a hautbois" (oboe) and, below that appear entries for "a dark lanthorn" and for a "jack and that with silver", the former a lantern with a closeable door and the latter a pocket flask for brandy of other intoxicant. The jack seems to have been decorated with silver. The inventory is worth reading by any student of Southside, Surry, Sussex, Isle of Wight and Charles City counties. It may be found at my website below; scroll down to and click on "Document of the Month", and "zoom in". Genealogy without documentation is nothing.
