Paul - Thanks again for sharing another interesting site with us. The first thing that hit me is Kings Highway - much of our current day Rt 17 is still known by that name. I live about 1/4 mile off of it and my shop is right on Kings Hwy in South Carolina. Looking at current maps, I see that Rt 1 and some of I-95 now follow much of he Fall Line Road going through Va, NC and SC. And Rt 29 and I-85 now follow much of the Upper Road through those same states. I once took several days to drive down Rt 30 from Philidelphia through Gettysburg and over to Chambersburg to Rt 11 which I followed down the Shenandoah Valley. That path follows the Lancaster Road and Great Valley Road which is probably how my German ancestors got to the Valley. In the fall, this is a wonderfully colorful trip!
