    3. Hi, Pat. You may have to search and run down ALL the Sapps who appear here anywhere at the same time that your line first shows up. Sometimes brick walls are so strong that one needs to jump over the wall, go into the years before the wall, and run down EVERY appearance of that surname to a point where those distant folks are either positively eliminated or you learn that those appearances justify further study. Remember: Though there will be exceptions found, you may be reasonably sure that the surname you have was that of the man's parents and they lived some WHERE. It can really be frustrating when you know they came on a ship, unless they were extremely strong swimmers, and there is no record of them. Of course knowing a first name might also be helpful. 3. Well, that is what keeps me going. He was supposed to have come over with Lord Baltimore. I really do not know this for sure. I've heard he was from Hamburg, Germany or from the Netherlands or England. I will just keep on looking until I go blind or I find him. hehe Pat ----- Original Message ----- > Hi, Pat. 3. Pat You might want to post a query on the list that covers the Delmarva Peninsula. There are, and have been since English came to Delaware, or the lower three counties of PA, or the Jersies, depending on who or what you read, many families named Sapp. They tend, here in DE, to be in the Kent Co area, around what is now Dover, but were found in the other two counties as well. Many people from this area, on the Delmarva Peninsula, often went down the Chesapeake Bay to VA. It's not a long trip, to say the least. Where I live in DE, I"m 7 miles from the MD border, and then perhaps 4 miles to the Chesapeake Bay. I have many ancestors that went back and forth between MD and VA, in the 1600's. They ended up staying in VA by the later 1600's, but worked that headright system fairly well. I have no connection to the Sapp's, other than knowing they were/are here, and knowing where some are in cemeteries, only by wandering past. Actually, some are buried right outside the Delaware State Museum, which was once a church, and enclosed by a huge cemetery in Dover DE. Just figured you might have to check other areas besides VA. They may not have come directly from whatever country of origin to VA, but migrated, early, from DE, MD or eastern shore VA (they're there too) to mainland VA. 3. Just as another jumping off place - I went to school with a Robert Sapp in Fairfax County, VA in the 1940's. Knowing how families migrate that might be another area to look. __________________________________ Yahoo! Mail - PC Magazine Editors' Choice 2005 http://mail.yahoo.com
