Good Morning to All I am trying to find when my Mathew O'Brien of Lynchburg/Campbell/Bedford Virginia arrived in the US fm Ireland. Folk lore says 1840. Now to prove or disapprove. I have been searching records for his oath but no luck so far. Is anyone on the list familiar with Voter Registration records for this area of Va and how far back they go? You don't say what records you have searched. Naturalizations were usually recorded in the Order or minute books. If the person had applied for Naturalization in a different county or even a different state, it will say so when citizenship is granted.
