I am working on my Jones family, many born in Virginia. However, with all the boundary changes of the states over the years I think that perhaps they might now be listed in other states, such as West Virginia, and North Carolina. Can anyone help me or direct me to a website that will help me understand when, and where the boundaries changed. I have been working on my Jones family history since the early 1970's and here I am still working on them, and really no further back than in the 70's? I will appreciate any help or advice anyone can offer me. My Jones' started in Virginia, then moved to Tennessee then to Arkansas, and my gg-grandfather who was born in 1833 in Virgina came to Texas.
