I know that in some parts of Virginia, at least, when a man reached the age of 65 he was considered exempt from payment of taxes. Or at least could petition the court to be exempted from the payment of Taxes. Does anyone know if that was true in Albemarle Co. in the late 1790s? I have found a John Day who last appears on the microfilmed records in 1795. Thanks, Sharon Bryant
