I sent out an email with an attachment this morning to the sites from which I have received many questions regarding the post I made this week to information regarding the subject of this email. I haven't received any responses from my post this morning; so I just assume that no one has received it at all since there were a couple of bounces. I begin again as follows: "I am not a Brown descendent or researcher; however, my Aunt, Annie Laurie Strickland, was married to Henry Randall Brown of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, on December 25, 1936. Henry Randall Brown was born January 4, 1909; and, if my memory is not too far off, I believe that he died approximately 1961. Henry Randall Brown was the son of Simon Henry Brown (DOB June 1, 1863 and DOD August 19, 1935). Simon Henry Brown married Devalsco Eugenia Hargrove, daughter of Daniel Jackson and Elizabeth Thomas Hargrove, on December 1, 1891. Last week I was going through some old pictures and came across a folder with the heading of "The Browne Family of Virginia, North Carolina, and Alabama -- Rock Hill, S.C. July 25, 1956." It begins with, "Full credit for this work is given to Col. Woolsey Finnell of Tuscaloosa, Ala., who spent many years and much money collecting the data for it, to his family, and especially to his daughter, Mrs. Nubia Livingston, who did the major part of the correspondence, the assimilating of this material, and typing it." (NOTE: The information in the first paragraph of this message regarding Henry Randall Brown's parents, date of birth and date of marriage to Annie Laurie Strickland is also taken from the information prepared and in the folder giving credit to research of Col. Woolsey Finnell and his family and daughter, Mrs. Nubia Livingston.) I, Carolyn Strickland Smalley, take no credit whatsoever for any work and information provided and know and realize that all credit is to be given as stated above to Col. Woolsey Finnell of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and to his family and daughter, Mrs. Nubia Livingston. I do not know, nor am I familiar with Col. Finnell or Mrs. Livingston or any of their family. Today, June 22, 2007, I have spoken on the phone with Woolsey Finnell, III. Mr. Finnell has kindly given his permission for this information to be provided here to anyone who may be interested in the information herein. Should anyone like to receive copies of the attachment that I attempted to send out this morning, please contact me at: <mailto:cssmalley@bellsouth.net> cssmalley@bellsouth.net; and I will be glad to forward the information on to you. I sincerely hope that I have not made any mistakes and should anyone find any errors I have made, please let me know. So, in your searching, please pardon any errors that I have made in re-typing the information. Carolyn Strickland Smalley
