    3. Hi, Julie. I and several others have written about indentured servants in response to queries on this and several other sites. Check the archives for this site and VA Library. If that fails, get back to me. and I will help Paul -----Original Message----- From: varoots-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:varoots-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Julie Sent: Thursday, June 28, 2007 5:19 PM To: varoots@rootsweb.com Subject: [VAROOTS] records of the Virginia Settlement thank you! I'll check those out!!! Do you or anyone, know where they might have filed the indentured servant contracts? How did people get on the boat? did you just jump on and figure someone on the other end will take you on as a servant? or do you sign a contract beforehand? Did the ships from Europe come from only England? or if they were French did they go from France? or stop off in England first then go? Now watch - it will be all of the above and I won't be any closer to finding where my Nicholas LaHugh came from, lol Julie in CA Emaress Nova <emaress_nova@yahoo.com> wrote: Julie, Under the heading The Avalon Project at Yale Law School you will find the charters for a number of colonies - I copied the first and second charters for Virginia - the first was dated April 10, 1606 and the second was dated May 23, 1609. Lots of names and provisions for the establishment of the colony. http://www.yale.edu/lawweb/avalon/states/va01.htm same address except it is /va02.htm for the second one My God provides my every need according to His riches in glory. 3. I checked some of my books and that name doesn't appear in the current "Adventurers of Purse and Person" or the first 3 volumes of "Cavaliers and Pioneers". Nor is it in the Colonial Virginia Source Records CD (FTM 510) John -----Original Message----- From: varoots-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:varoots-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Julie Sent: Thursday, June 28, 2007 5:19 PM To: varoots@rootsweb.com Subject: [VAROOTS] records of the Virginia Settlement thank you!
