Has anyone gotten or tried to get the records of the Virginia Settlement which was established in England by the Crown and merchant venturers to provide people for the newly taken areas of America? someone mentioned this and it sounds like an awesome document if it's still around - would it be in England? Virginia? If so where do I look? who do I ask? What do I do? How much are we talking?? thanks julie in CA --------------------------------- Take the Internet to Go: Yahoo!Go puts the Internet in your pocket: mail, news, photos & more.
Start with the VA Library and then the Library of Congress, and for sure, the LDS catalog.. -----Original Message----- From: varoots-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:varoots-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Julie Sent: Thursday, June 28, 2007 11:26 AM To: VA_VA; VA_Roots; VA_northum Subject: [VAROOTS] records of the Virginia Settlement Has anyone gotten or tried to get the records of the Virginia Settlement which was established in England by the Crown and merchant venturers to provide people for the newly taken areas of America? someone mentioned this and it sounds like an awesome document if it's still around - would it be in England? Julie, Under the heading The Avalon Project at Yale Law School you will find the charters for a number of colonies - I copied the first and second charters for Virginia - the first was dated April 10, 1606 and the second was dated May 23, 1609. Lots of names and provisions for the establishment of the colony. http://www.yale.edu/lawweb/avalon/states/va01.htm same address except it is /va02.htm for the second one My God provides my every need according to His riches in glory. Amen ____________________________________________________________________________________ Yahoo! oneSearch: Finally, mobile search that gives answers, not web links. http://mobile.yahoo.com/mobileweb/onesearch?refer=1ONXIC
