As an owner/moderator of around 30 Yahoo lists, and member of over 100, I must say that everyone is making this hard on themselves. No, you do NOT need a Yahoo profile to join the mailing list for any Yahoo Groups. You only need a Yahoo profile if you want access to all the extra's on the groups website such as files, pictures, etc. To subscribe to the mailing llist only the Yahoo profile is not needed. Simply send an email to JamestownVirginiaSettlers-subscribe@yahoogroups.com from the email address you want subscribed. Yahoo will send you a confirmation email containing a link to a subscription page. This page will be for joining the Yahoo Group, which will require a Yahoo profile and will give you a Yahoo address, but if you do not want this and only want to be on the email list look for the link at the very bottom of the page saying, "As an alternate option, you may *join the mailing list instead*." This link will allow you to join the mailing list with no Yahoo account or profile.
