Would anyone with Ancestry be able to do a look up for me please? I have tried on Herritage Quest but couldn't find anything and I know Ancestry is more comprehensive and indexed differently. I am looking on the 1870 VA census for Nancy Ann walker DOB May 1861 so she would be 9 yrs old Born in VA, parents born in VA, white I don't know the name of her parents or the counly in VA. I think you would also want to look at the Anns If Ann was actually the middle name, it might have been used in the censuses. In addition, Nancy was still a nickname for Ann, its original usage. Some genealogists mistakenly recorded the name as Nancy Ann in those cases. The 1870 census was one of the worst, so it is possible that she was not enumerated. The free 1880 census at familysearch.org is much more complete, although she may have been married by then.
