Hello Alan, Thank you Alan for all the hard work plus all the time it take you to do this for us. I, like many others, greatly appreciate it! I was absolutely amazed when one previous "Photo of the Month" was for Catawissa, Pa.! Little Catawissa, how about that? Presently, Catawissa is a very small town and, it's population was even smaller (under 2,000) when my grandmother lived there up until her death in 1961. Thank you for the photo! I have been anxiously waiting for the index to be completed on, "Collections of the Virginia Historical Society Vol. V: The Huguenot Emigration", to see if includes my ancestor, Randall Revell. There is a town called Revel in southwestern France which may be the ancestral home of the Revells but, it is not documented. Randall Revell fought at La Rochelle (France) in 1628 and after the fall of La Rochelle in 1629 fled to Bristol (England) with his father and mother. Shortly after that, Randall Revell fled to Virginia. Randall Revell appears in records in Accomack County, Virginia in January 1633/34. In Robert Bennet Beau's. "The Peopling of Virginia", 1935 he discusses the Huguenot colony at Mannokin town (above Richmond) and goes on to mention the Revell family (page 8) as one of that group. Is this what is mentioned in the "Collections of the Virginia Historical Society" or perhaps another source I an not aware of? I can't wait to find out more about what is in the book! I have been waiting for the index so I may check for ancestors. I was delighted to read the index was half completed!. Any way, when I tried to access the partial index you mentioned, I was not able to do it. The June photo of the month identifies the Morgan Log House. I live a few miles away from the Morgan Log House in Towamencin Twp., Montgomery County (not Berks County as identified in the photo description). I am a member of The Towamencin Chapter of the DAR, this month's newsletter includes a photo of the Morgan Log House as well as activities that are scheduled for this summer. I was wondering if you might be interested in this information about the activities? Again, many thanks for your hard work! I know that in some parts of Virginia, at least, when a man reached the age of 65 he was considered exempt from payment of taxes. Or at least could petition the court to be exempted from the payment of Taxes. Does anyone know if that was true in Albemarle Co. in the late 1790s? I have found a John Day who last appears on the microfilmed records in 1795. Thanks, Sharon Bryant
