Doran, copyright 1987, published by Iberian Publishing Company, 548 Cedar Creek Drive, Athens, GA. Nearly all of the well known genealogical publishing houses carry it. Virginia was the "mother" of West Virginia, Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois and parts of Michigan and Wisconsin. 2. The boundary between Va and NC did not change all that much over the years so unless they were right on the line, I wouldn't count on that. 3. If you are inclined to spend a bit of money, the program, "AniMap", available readily on the internet , will reveal by moving maps the genesis of all colonies/counties of our nation. It is very user friendly and is used MANY times a day by a large number of us who do early research. Simply type "Animap" in your browser, then click "Genealogy" in the left column. 1. [VAROOTS] My writings re Indentured servitude
    2. Paul Drake
    3. One writer on this list has stated that in my writings concerning servitude, I have suggested that nearly all who came to the Colonies did do as servants. That simply is not correct. A cursory examination of my works will reveal that I made NO comments whatever about any percentages or numbers of those who came for other reasons or of those who had the wherewithal or means to pay their own way, nor did I ever intend to speak of those latter categories of early settlers. My only purpose and thrust of those writings was to speak of servants alone. Indeed, the title to my article was "Earning Your Way" and the subtitle was ".... Indentured Servitude as a Means of Providing Transportation". So, once again, if any of you would like a copy of that article, please contact me privately.
