I came across the following today while cleaning out some old emails & thought the following might help someone. Derrell Oakley Teat Page 607 Tennessee Cousins Author: Worth S. Ray Call Number: F435.R3 This book contains a history of Tennessee people. Bibliographic Information: Ray, Worth S. Tennessee Cousins. Published by the Author. Texas. MARK ANDREWS, this revolutionary soldier, whose grave is marked as such, in WILLIAMSON COUNTY, TENNESSEE, was born in VIRGINIA. His farthest back VIRGINIA ancestor, so far as we have been able to trace, was a certain GEORGE ANDREWS, who in the latter part of the 17th century - 1650 to 1690 lived on what was sometimes referred to on the old records as the GEORGE ANDREWS SWAMP, and later called SPEARMAN'S SWAMP, where also lived a certain JOB SPEARMAN and his family. This was in ESSE?? COUNTY Virginia. Among the neighbor?? of the GEORGE GOODE mentioned was COL. JAMES GAINES, MR. ROBERT PAYNE, THOMAS LUCAS (who married an Underwood) and THOMAS THO??PE and his wife FLORIDA. Also the BEVERLY FAMILY, Daniels and Harrisons.
I have forward this book notice because I consider important for those searching for French ancestors in VA. Please contact Helen & not me if your interested..I have no personal interest in the book, Derrell Oakley Teat, List Mom From: Helen Fazio [mailto:hfaz@pdq.net] Sent: Thursday, July 03, 2003 4:49 PM To: GEN-BOOKS-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [GB] "Turff & Twigg"-See some names Turff & Twigg, Volume One: The French Lands - A Study of Ten Thousand Acres Donated By King William, III to the French Refugees Who Settled at Makintowne on the Southern Bank of James River in the Colony of Virginia in 1700, Priscilla Harriss Cabell, 1988. Published, illustrated, and signed by the author. Hardback, 9 x 11-1/4, 468 pages, pocketed fold-out map. Maroon cloth covered hardback with gold imprinting. The front cover has 4-5 pinhead size flecks and a slightly bunged corner. Otherwise, the book is in near new condition. I cannot find another copy of this book, nor could my source. This book is an amazing genealogical work detailing the original land patents to French refugees and providing information on the many families. >From the introduction: "A detailed study of the French lands near Richmond, Virginia has been completed in this volume. It is a tribute to the courage of the French families who clung to their belief in the right to worship freely, and who succeeded in their flight to Manakintowne (Manakin), Virginia. A map of the large tract given to them has been drawn by the author and has been included in an envelope attached to the rear of this book. This map measures 28 x 20 inches, illustrating the 11-1/2 mile width of the French territory which comprised King William Parish. The survey for each French patent has been designated. A section has been composed for each patentee and contains his or her last will and testament, facts and theories concerned with the family, frequently including birth, marriage and death records, and a detailed study of the land. The French lands lie to the west of Richmond and were originally all in Henrico County. Parts of the land are located in what is now Goochland, Powhatan,! and Chesterfield Counties. Following is a list of the original patentees, some showing alternate spellings of the family name: Matthew Agee (Oage); Jacob Amonet; John Bernard; James Bilbaud; Stephen Buccard; William Byrd; Joseph Callio; Mitchell Campee; Jacob Capoone; Gideon Chamboon (Jambon); Stephen Chastain (Chastaine); John Chastaine; Peter Chastaine; Peter David; Richard Dean; Ann, Mary & Judith Delpish; Bartholomew Depuy (Dupee); Francis Dupee; Peter Dutoy; John Farcee; Jacob Florenoy (Flournoy); John Fonville; John Forcuron; Daniel Foure; Peter Foure; Anthony Gevodan; Glebe; Claude Gory (Gaury, Gawey, Guerri); John Harris; Richard Harris; James Holman; John Jones (Jouany); Isaac Lafeavour; Isaac Lafeit; John Lagran; Adam Lavean; John Lavillian; Davide LeSuer; Moses Liverau; Francis L'Orange; Maryan Mallet; Stephen Mallet; John Martin; Margaret Martin; Anthony Mattoone; Abraham Misshuex (Michaux); Peter Moriset; Lewis Morrill; John Panitour; Isaac Parentau; Charles Perault; john Peter Perue; Anthony Rapine; Abraham Remey (Remmy); Stephen Renno; Peter Sabotte; Abraham Sallee (Salle, Salley); Fr! ancis Sassin; Abraham Soblet; John Soleager; Nicholas Souillie; Anthony Trabue (Tribue). Also included: An index of slaves mentioned in the text of this book A list of refugees from "Huguenot Emigration to Virginia" for Whom No French Patents Exist. List of tithables in King William Parish, other than French patentees Bibliography (also includes additional genealogical references) Detailed index. Printed on heavy paper, this book is a wonderfgul addition to any Virginia genealogical referency library. It would be of interest to collectors in the area of Richmond, Sandston, Bon Air, Midlothian, Powhaqtan, Goochland, Crozier, Manakin, Ashland, Lakeside, etc. ==== GEN-BOOKS Mailing List ==== Gen-Mat-Lists website - http://www2.netdoor.com/~cch/lists/Gen-Mat-Lists.htm ============================== To join Ancestry.com and access our 1.2 billion online genealogy records, go to: http://www.ancestry.com/rd/redir.asp?targetid=571&sourceid=1237

I saw the surname Wingfield in two of the cemeteries I just upload to my webpage. The cems. are Gladetown and Greenwood. Look for Cultural Expressions of Nature in Sacred Contexts: by Thomas Klatka on main page and follow the link. Hope this helps. All right everyone, since Monday morning I have eaten and slept on my computer trying to get all the cemeteries from Thomas Klatka report on line for you. I am somewhere between bug-eyed and cross-eyed so please overlook the cosmetic attention needed. I still need to double check my copy/paste job and check links and will do so after a rest, but They Are All On Line (I hope) and there is no reason why you can't Enjoy The Hunt. If you note any broken links or oversights, please email me. Thank you and enjoy. I think that a general Pemberton was the confederate General in charge of the defense of Vicksburg, MS, during the civil war. Are you related?
I found the information I needed by going to Nineveh Presbyterian Church. Thanks, Jessie Hutt Dare To Dream
My research has led me to believe that the answer to my Pemberton quest will be in one or all of the counties listed. So if you have ANY Pemberton connection or record before 1800, please contact me. Does anybody know how to find out the names of the people buried in the Nineveh Cemetery behind the Nineveh Presbyterian Church? Some of the graves only have fieldstones on them. Many of my McKay ancestors are buried in that cemetery. Thanks, Jessie Hutt Dare To Dream
