Our Denney/Denny family did come from NC, Thomas Denny was born there but I don't know where yet. I found only one Thomas born in 1863 in NC in the 1880 census. His father was Lewis William and mother Caroline. We are working on tracing this family now and seeing if the son Thomas left NC and went to VA. I think it is interesting that about 90% of those children were sent to Va in 1618 - 1619. They were really building up the colony in those years - 1619 is also when the first women and the first slaves were sent to Va. I can't imagine the conditions that these poor children came to. I wonder how many died? Children were also kidnapped off the streets for free labor. My family was one of the early Jamestown families. We can trace to Barbados then before that we can't find anything. I descend from the Renfrew/Renfro/Rentfro/Rentfre/Reynfre family. We located the line in Barbados but before that nothing. Someday I will turn over the right rock and find the line in Europe. Hi Emaress, As far as we know William Lewis Denny/Denney died in either Wise or Russell County, VA. He was a coal miner and the family lived in Wise County in 1919 when his youngest child was born. William and his family were originally from Russell County. His wife's name was Ollie Ritta Bays and her family was from Scott County. We don't know which of these counties he would have been working in in the mines at the time of his death. Thanks for any help you can give us. Do you know if any of these Denney/Denny families had ties to NC? Or if they migrated at all to Missouri before 1850? My gr gr grandfather's first wife was Dorcas Lamirah Denney/Denny. She was b.NC ~1829. In 1850, she and my gr gr grandfather were in Cole Co, MO. It looks like her father (I assume--no proof) Squire Denny/Denney age 57 was living next door to them with 3 dtrs named Elizabeth 17, Mary 16, and Martha 14. No wife was listed. He and all the girls were b.NC. Just checking in case there might be a relationship somewhere. Hi All, I am trying to find the death record of William Lewis Denny/Denney who died in 1920 or late 1919. William sometimes went by his middle name of Lewis and he would have been 30 or 31 years old and born in VA. Any help would be really appreciated. Laurie

Hi Laurie, Try this site, there were several William Denny's that came up. Good Luck! At this site, you can type in a deceased person's name and read the obituary. It claims to be the world's largest repository of obituaries and death records, with more than 57 million individual entries. Most of the information appears to be taken from Social Security records. You can search by hometown, too. TO VISIT THIS SITE, GO HERE: http://www.nationalobituaryarchive.com/
