This is a long shot, but I have a Nicholas CARR, married Rebecca NICHOLSON. I have no dates or places for them. They had a daughter, Margaret CARR. She married on 16 Sep 1707, to John BATTEY. John BATTEY was born in Rhode Island. Margaret CARR was the granddaughter of Gov. Caleb CARR, born Jamestown, RI, 22 Oct 1684. Margaret died after 1767. Children of Margaret CARR -- Samson, Nicholas, Dinah, Rebeckah, William, John. Jr., Margaret, Phebe, and Caleb. I have nothing more for my CARR line. The only listed Ray for Roanoke 1840 is Juble Ray. I do have a Jacob & Peter Kefauver listed. On the Roanoke Co Death list I have a John W. Ray who died 8/15/1855 of Croup, 1 year and six months old.
