Hi JoAnn and list Thanks for your reply but I was not able to find the Historical Society for the city of Richmond on line and that is why I wrote to the list. Can you give me the exact URL for that site or can you supply me with the address of the Society? Thanks DLL
The Virginia Historical Society which is in Richmond has a huge collection and could probably help you. You can get to them on line. JBW
Hello, Can anyone tell me if their is a Historical Society that covers the City of Richmond and I think that is in Henrico county. Welcome any suggestions or help. Thanks Dorothy Lee Lassiter
Hi! Could you please look-up a marriage in the mid to late 1770s in Goochland, Caroline, or Louisa Counties? This would be the marriage of Mathew Thom(p)son and Sarah Wyatt. Thank you very much. Ken Thompson. kennetht@constant.com
All, The best line source for finding geographic spots is: http://geonames.usgs.gov/pls/gnis/web_query.gnis_web_query_form It lists several Glady places. VA locations, c. 1789 Monasco Mtn, Piney Mtn, Rockfish River and it's South Fork are all in present day Nelson Co. The Rockfish River forms a part of the Nelson/Albemarle Co line, where it flows into the James River. The South Fork flows through the Rockfish Valley, from about Beech Grove through Nellysford and Lodebar, along Rte 151. Monasco Mtn, lies about 4 miles southwest of Schyuler with Piney Mtn, directly southwest of Monasco. I haven't spotted Glady Creek on my map. IT'S QUITE POSSIBLE THAT THEY MARRIED IN ONE COUNTY WAS RECORDED THERE AND THEN IT WAS RECORDED IN EITHER THE BRIDES COUNTY OR THE COUNTY THE PRIEST WAS FROM. I HAVE TWO CHESTERFIELD MARRIAGE BOOKS AND THE HENRY CAMPBELL MARRIAGE IS NOT LISTED IN EITHER BOOK.
