Janet and Earl Downs have written two volumes on the Mills of Rockingham County. They are available from the historical society here in Harrisonburg. The tel. # is 540-879-2616. If you are not interested in buying the vol. with the history of the mill in it perhaps they will send you some copies. (There are many photos of mills in this area) The response about the crossing of Swift Run Gap and Pleasant Valley is very interesting. I am not a native of this area but wonder about that location as Swift Run Gap is a "gap" along the top of the Blue Ridge and Pleasant Valley is some distance away in the valley itself, sorta southeast of Harrisonburg.
