Crawford does not appear on the 1850 R'ham census with those children. What you have is someone's work that is in an apparent mess. Number one rule for doing genealogy is to work backwards in time. There just is no other way to do it if you want it done correctly. When you get info such as that below, you have no way of knowing if it is correct, if the information has been documented, or if it is truly your line. There's an excellent article on the web by Richard Pence which will give you guidelines and Richard also includes information on how to use census records. The site can be found at: http://everton.com/GENEALOG/GENEALOG.FHSEARCH A lot of census records are not indexed and the indexes that do exist are not always accurate. The only way to document your work is to view the actual census films. You'll need to visit your library to view the films. If the film you need is not in stock the library will order it for you. The census info will not look anything like the presentation below. There are books available that you can either purchase or request a look-up but you really need to see an actual film and you need to know what census records are about and how to use them. It's very enjoyable to work backwards in time and find the siblings on a census record. Then, by the time you get back to 1795, you'll know if those are brothers, cousins or whatever.
