Dear Rockingham list: I need help on an ancestor from Rockingham Co. My GGG Grandfather, William Long was b. 7 May 1801. His parents were Peter Long and Margaret Ewing. Other siblings were Peter, Adam, Henry, Margaret (m. Aaron Shook), Martha (m. George Slagel), Catherine (m. Joseph Slagel), and Diana (m. Jacob Smith). Other than William, I have no birth dates, etc. for the siblings. I am searching for information on their parents, as well as any other information on these Longs (e.g. where they lived, what they did, etc). Peter's father, I believe, was George, mother unknown. Margaret's father, I believe was Henry, mother unknown. William and Margaret were married in 29 Jul 1800, Rockingham County. These Longs, (apparently along with some Haglers, Petersons and Dices) left Rockingham County and moved to Greene County, Ohio. I also plan to be in the area later on next week and would appreciate any recommendations as to information sources, libraries, etc. Would be most grateful for any information.
