I want to thank everyone who directed me to ancestry.com and the Genealogy Library at Family Tree Maker to find the 1860 index. I belong to both and had checked both but stupidly had decided that since the particular name I was looking for was not listed--they were at fault for not having a complete index. Of course once I got more creative with the spelling they all appeared. Thank you again for prodding me. It's great fun wandering around neighborhoods in the actual census on this CD and it sure beats going blind peering through a microfilm reader. Maggie
