    1. [VAROCKIN-L] Stitzer-Harrisonburg
    2. I am trying to locate the father and his family and origin of Addison Stitzer of Orange County. The 1850 Census lists a seventy-year old William living with Addison and family or Addison is living with him and two daughters?? I found a Wm. Stitzer in Rockingham in 1780, 1790, and 1810. In the 1860 Census I found a John Stilzer in Harrisonburg, Rockingham Co. A John Stitsler was in Shenandoah Co. 1783 Census. I have believed that they were related to the PA or MD Stitzer/Stitchers. I believe the generations are William, Addison, John William, Ray Vernon, Jack. I believe that John William, known as Willie or Bill was the link that changed from Stitzer to Stitcher. The name has numerous spellings, such as Stichter in PA, Stichles in NY, a Wm. Sticher in Orange 1830, a Joseph Sticher in DC in 1870, and Jacob Sticher in Baltimore in 1800. At least three generations were hatters or milliners. Old Pap, made top hats. Can someone please help me find and identify correctly Addison's father and mother and of course his siblings. The family was supposed to be German. Any questions please write me. I haven't been able to find out-of-print books for Rockingham. Thanks, Glynda Stitcher Fox
