    3. I have noticed that the Personal Property Tax Lists seem not to include all of the males between 16 and 21 that should show-up in the families that I am working on. In fact on the 1796 Tax Lists there seem to be many families that have only one or no males between 16 and 21. My questions are (1) was it common to apprentice or bound-out teenaged males so they could learn trades and (2) if that was the practice, were the apprenticed persons "tithables"? If they were not, then can I assume that they would not be included on the tax list? I have run into a couple of families that should have three or four teen-aged males living in the household, and there are either one or none listed. Guess I should have stated that I am working on 1787 through 1800 tax records. Any ideas appreciated. June
