This list, though I did not mention it in the copy and paste below, includes many counties, and certainly the ones this post is sent to! --- Dear Folks: I have started an emaillist to find out if the Virginia and Pennsylvania Branches of the KITE Families merge. There is increasing evidence, albeit circumstantial, that they do. This would be a most exciting event, as these two great lines have basically remained apart, not in knowledge that the other part is likely theirs also! One PA Kite, Abraham KITE and Mary PETERS, who allegedly (LDS) came to Augusta County, VA. James KITE and Martha WYNNE. Several children are purported to have been born there, and, indeed, I get reports back from AUGUSTA CO., that there are KITES from there. A second one, either James or John Wendell KITE married Hannah Medlicott. John settled in Virginia. Family tradition had said the same for James, so it is not clear what is happening here, but they came to Rockingham County. Or at least the husband did. It would appear he had to have remarried because the children listed by LDS has them all born after Hannah had died. At any rate, in Rockingham, Page, and Shenandoah Counties, there exists, in large quantities, the name KITE.
