I'm trying to find out the location of the home of my ancestors, Jacob Hoover and his wife Elizabeth. In 1810, his wife was Elizabeth Shoemaker, who died sometime during that year (many cousins descend from her). In 1811, he married Elizabeth Lam(b), from whom I'm descended. We know from Wayland's book, the Lincolns in Virginia, as well as deeds that I've downloaded from the Library of Virginia, that that John Lincoln, Jr., the surveyor, owned land adjacent to a Hoover during this time. (On the 1810 Census, which has been so helpfully transcribed by Pat Turner Ritchie, she has explained that page 131B is not in New Haven, as Ancestry.com has it! There were only a few families listed for New Haven, at the end of p. 131.) This 1810 Census shows that the Hoover listed next to John Lincoln was Jacob. There is another Hoover, Henry, listed as well, but he isn't near John Lincoln. A portion of the list from p. 131B runs: 131B Henry Hoover [or Heaover?] 32010 31010 0 0 131B Jacob Brunk 12110 20010 0 0 131B Henry Funk 11101 12010 0 0 131B Sampson Turley 00010 20100 0 1 131B Giles Turley 01001 02101 0 8 131B Jesse Lincoln 00211 00000 0 0 131B Frederick Allbright 00101 02101 0 0 131B John Allbright 00100 10100 0 0 131B Saml. This would have been John Lincoln, Jr. (b. 1755- d. by 1835). Wayland says that John Lincoln Jr. lived in Turleytown, on Brock's Creek, where he had a mill. He says that the mill was owned by the Zirkles in 1934. What I'd like to know is whether anyone has any definite information on exactly where any of the nearby neighbors lived: John Rader, Jacob Showalter, Henry Lamb, Andrew Andes, John Funk, Jacob & Henry Whisler. A Shoemaker and a Winger also owned land nearby, judging from the deeds and surveys, but they don't appear on the census here, for some reason. I'd be very grateful for any help on this, so we can finally get a clearer idea of where Jacob and his family lived, at least in 1810. Thanks! Bonnie Schrack
