Yes, I know of Anna Catherine and John Evans, but other than the names and approximate birth dates of their children, I knew nothing else about them, including the ancestors of John Evans, sorry. I'm excited to hear that they were among those I had heard of in the history of Rockingham Co, who fled conscription in the Confederate Army! Did they have any religious reasons for not wanting to fight, or was it more a matter of disagreement with the Confederate cause? This is the kind of information I've dreamed of learning about these Hoovers! I have wondered a lot about their religious affiliation, and many have been curious about who in the family participated in the Civil War on each side. Or in this case, didn't. Believe me, I admire those who refused to fight in this war of brother against brother, as well as those who sacrificed for what they believed in by serving in the armed forces. I had seven children for this family, Jacob, John, Reuben, David, Elizabeth, William, and Sarah as the youngest -- no Mary on my list. So please do fill me in. I'd love to hear what more you have on the Jacob Hoover and Elizabeth Lam(b)family. Since my last posting, evidence has accumulated and we have finally been able to confirm that Jacob was the son of Peter Hoover of Pendleton Co. Peter was one of the sons of the well-known pioneer immigrant, Sebastian Hoover. Let's get in touch off-list and exchange info. I hope you'll join our Hoover website, where we are learning a lot from eachother. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
