Hello, I have been trying for years to find the birth records for the following people Otto Horner born sometime between 1882 and 1886 John Edward Horner birth date May 6 or 7, 1886. Their parents are John William and Martha Jane (Nelson) Horner and the lived in Brock's Gap.? I have found him listed as a cooper.? I have been to the court house in Harrisonburg, VA?and found no record of either person in the book.? I did find some of their siblings listed in the book so I expected to find them as well.? Martha and John are buried in Broadway, Va and I did find Martha's record of death.? If someone? could point me in another direction I would be grateful for the help. Thank you, Diane

Diane, probably NOT what you want to hear, but, NOT all births were recorded.  Not all deaths were recorded.  Most marriages did get recorded, but, note I say MOST, not all. I am gonna guess that while you were looking in the birth records book at the courthouse, you considered other spellings??  Did you look at the column with the names of the father, and mother???  I have found unnamed babies that way, even after reviewing the records a number of times (I won't fess up to how MANY times I have looked at birth records and still found something I missed in prior searches - - sigh) Your next best bet would be to pray you can find church records or family bible??
